Introduction of the JavaScript topic followed. Several MAGWeb
members volunteered in advance to share their scripts: Barbara Hensley, Rich
Lovett, Kelli Behr, Dan Davis and Randy Ellis. (Their scripts are in a Zip
file in the Archives section.)
JavaScript’s Development
JavaScript was invented by Netscape out of
the necessity. HTML is a static language that helps describe the layout of
information on a web page. It allows users very little interaction with the
information on their web pages. JavaScript makes web pages functional and dynamic.
JavaScript is a scripting language running on either the client or the server. The code runs only on a JavaScript interpreter in the user's browser. You can write JavaScript code once, and it will work on any system with a JavaScript-capable browser (Netscape Navigator 2.0 or later, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later) on any computer platform. Today’s presentations focused on the client-side.

Other Business
Susan Waters from the City of Overland Park won the drawing
for the Windows XP operating system.
Conference planning for this year's event is in the early stages. Few details are known.
