Presentation
Macromedia Breeze – Dan Davis, Jackson County
Macromedia Breeze is a communication software that allows the administrator to create interactive multimedia content. Using the Flash Player, it is exceptionally compatible for most users and easily used. The system can be used to create training courses, to host online meetings and for on-demand presentations. Reports can be generated with the results of online quizzes, polls, etc.
When the system is installed, it adds a menu to PowerPoint. Dan provided a demonstration of various multimedia presentations he created for Jackson County and showed how they function. Although the tool is priced beginning at more than $20,000, it can be a valuable tool when used on a regular basis.
NAGW Conference Update
Hotel room rates are $59 during the conference, and the early-bird
registration fee, which expires on July 15, is $150. Speakers are being solicited
and confirmed. (Postscript: the early-bird deadline has been extended to July
31.)
So far, approximately 56 people from 19 states and D.C. have registered for the conference and seven of nine vendors are confirmed. The four workshop subjects will be CSS, Flash, ASP.net/PHP.net and ColdFusion. These workshops are filling up quickly, so interested attendees should register as soon as possible.
Upcoming Topics
July’s meeting will be at the Kansas State School for the Blind,
where Bradley Hook will demonstrate accessibility.
Susan reminded the group about the blogging session scheduled for June 20. Keith Kreeger will speak.
Open Forum
Kelli notified the group that she regrets having to resign as secretary
because she will be leaving the City of Gladstone prior to the next meeting.
She hopes to visit meetings and/or join the group for lunch in
the future. She encouraged the group to urge her co-worker at Gladstone, Kreg
Cox, to attend as often as his schedule allows.
Next meeting
Thursday, July 20, 2006, 10 a.m. at the Kansas State School for
the Blind, 1100 State Ave., Kansas City, KS.
