Metro-area government portal
The E-Gov strategy group of MARC is looking into creating a metro-wide government portal. This group will be meeting
on Aug. 29 at KCK Community College to discuss ideas. Barbara Hensley will soon send out a more detailed notice
via the listserv. This site will be set up and hosted for a year free thanks to a grant and CRN (Community Resource
Network).
Digital Camera Shootout
I didn't take notes of this session, since it was a hands-on, roundtable event.
Remember to send Rich your photos! Those of you who didn't attend the meeting can contribute, too. Please take
a picture of someone against a neutral-colored wall (preferably beige) using your office's digital camera and send
it to Rich, un-retouched, for inclusion in our roundup. Be sure to specify the brand and model of camera used,
your name and your jurisdiction. Attachments must total less than 2 megabytes in order to be accepted by his e-mail
system.

It was great to see that many of us are using similar cameras. We can use each other for questions about operating
our cameras or if we are researching to upgrade to a better model.
September Meeting: Accessibility Tips
For September, we will have a guest speaker, Diana Persell, Director
of Creative Services from National Information Consortium, to give us some accessibility tips and answer questions
about how to improve the accessibility of our Web sites. The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September
19, at the MARC offices, 600 Broadway.
Some folks usually do lunch after the meeting. Let us know if you'd like to join us.
