Intro to XML Web Services
“It’s not as hard and
scary as it sounds,” began Dan Davis,
speaker. Web Services promise tremendous opportunity to increase interoperability
while lowering the costs of software integration and data-sharing with external
partners. Since Web Services are based on non-proprietary standards,
they are designed to make it possible for computer programs to communicate
directly with one another regardless of location, operating systems or languages.
His presentation, a study guide in an HTML format, will be posted to our web site. The guide’s outline includes two primers on XML and Web Services plus an overview of programming, tools and resources. Each topic’s description is short and includes links and samples. The guide also includes a built-in search function; simply highlight the text you are interested in and the text is automatically entered into a Google search engine at the bottom of the Web page. Scroll down, press Alt-G, and more links to similar topics will appear for optional review.
Our Web Site Has
a New Look
Kelli Behr and Rich Lovett updated our site and created a new design,
which is now 100% compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) because
of its text-only option. Three cascading style sheets were used. Kelli concentrated
on the site’s
visual appearance and created the style sheets. The site works well in Firefox,
Netscape and IE. By the way, MAGWeb turned five last month!
