Discussion Topics
NAGW Conference
The NAGW Conference in Reno was a great success. Members shared things
they learned. The next conference will be in Valley Forge, PA, on Sept. 19-21,
2007.
PhotoShop Tips
Barbara Hensley share a few PhotoShop tips she learned at a recent
training event. She gave attendees a handout describing
how to do easy color correction using the eyedroppers in the curves palette.
She also walked through how to fix heavily backlit photos by using layer masks.
For reddish complexions, she showed us that it is easy to correct this by going
into Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation
and selecting Edit > Red and bringing down the slider for saturation.
Free and Cheap
Susan provided some free and cheap gizmos that she learned at the conference.
FastStone Capture – free tool for doing screen shots, will even capture an entire scrolling web page. (www.faststone.org – site temporarily down)
Jpeg Wizard by Pegasus – will optimize different sections of an image at different qualities. Free, but requires login. www.jpegwizard.com
NVU – free open source WYSIWYG HTML editor. www.nvu.com
EditPadPro – Enhanced text file editor similar to notepad, but with more features. $50. There is a Lite version for non-commercial use. www.editpadpro.com
Tiny URL – will turn any lengthy URL into a short URL just by pasting it into their web page. www.tinyurl.com
