Streaming Video for Government
Craig Peterson, SIRE Technologies
Craig Peterson from SIRE Technologies presented a demo to the group. SIRE is used by the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners to stream video of their meetings.
SIRE provides live or on-demand streaming or audio as well as agenda creation. Agendas can be bookmarked alongside the video of the meeting.
A new product from SIRE will allow for training. It will include videos and testing capabilities.
Hosting fees are set by the size of the government agency, population and expected useage.
Frisco, Texas, uses SIRE for their 24-hour government access channel.

VBrick Video Appliance Demo
Rich Lovett, Kansas City, Mo.
The VBrick is a cigar box-sized device that combines a video digitizer and a video server. It's an easy way to stream live video onto the Web. The City of Kansas City uses it to stream the KC government cable channel onto its web site. The VBrick streams in Windows Media format. KC's model cost $3,584.
