MAGWeb Minutes
Nov. 19, 2001

Please feel free to invite some of your colleagues from your or another city/county if you think it would benefit them to be part of our group.

Attendance
Oops! I didn't send around a sign-in sheet, but attendance wasn't very high. We are looking for feedback on ways to increase attendance.

Microsoft's .net
Gina Stevens from New Horizons was our guest speaker and gave us a brief overview of what .net can do. Basically, it is a middleware program that runs on your Web server and can read any programming language through XML. This means that any of your services can be accessible via cell phones, Palms, etc.

It is expected to launch in February.

New Horizons will have free seminars and demonstrations of .net during January or February. If you are interested, contact Gina.

Links with information about .net:

Why don't you come?
We have had declining attendance recently for the MAGWeb meetings. Please share with us what would improve your chances of attendance.

MAGWeb site
If you have any suggestions for or can help maintain the MAGWeb group site, please contact Rich Lovett, KCMO, mailto:rlovett@kcmo.org. We can also share documents via the site; send him your RFPs, policies, ADA stuff, links, etc.

Use the listserv for questions and to share ideas! E-mail webmasters@lyris.marc.org

Next Meeting: Share Treats and Stories/Dilemmas
On December 17, it's time for a laid-back round table discussion. This will be an opportunity to get to know each other better and share problems and ideas. Bring your questions! I will send out an e-mail a week or so before to see who would like to bring treats or beverages.

Have a great Turkey Day! If you have any ideas for future topics or guest speakers, please share them with Rich Lovett, KCMO, (rich_lovett@kcmo.org) or Susan Waters, Overland Park (sjwaters@opkansas.org).
